The Authentic Tzatziki Recipe

The Authentic tzatziki recipe you were looking for!

Tzatziki is one of the most favourite Greek sauces. Usually served in souvlaki (wrap) but you will definitely find it in our Sunday family lunch, served as a dip for the roast lamb, the fresh cut potatoes, even for our baked bread. Easy and fast tzatziki recipe for the Sunday lunch table, coming your way from our Greek executive chef, George.

Let’s start..

-Peel one large cucumber and grate it using the big blades of the cheese grater. Add a pinch of salt and set aside to release its liquids.

-Combine 300g of Greek strained yoghurt, half a glove of garlic (minced or very finely chopped), 2 tablespoons of vinegar and 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil. Mix it until it’s creamy and smooth.

-Squeeze the cucumber in your hands or in a tea towel, dispose the liquid and add it into the yogurt mix. Stir well, and add salt and pepper.

Tasting time! Add a bit of salt, pepper or vinegar, according to your taste.

-Optional step: Add ¼ bunch of dill, finely chopped. Stir again.

-Refrigerate until you need it. You can make the tzatziki from the previous night, and store it in the refrigerator for 3-4 days.

Also, if you are looking for a vegan tzatziki recipe or a dairy free tzatziki recipe, then just use coconut milk yogurt instead of Greek yogurt.
